Gmail and other Google services down for some, crashing Chrome with them (from The Verge)

Gmail for iOS 2.0

Many users, including some of us at The Verge, are experiencing a Gmail outage and issues with other Google services including Drive, Docs, and Google Play. In addition to simply being down, some users are reporting that attempting to access various services crashes the Chrome browser — the issue appears to be related to Chrome Sync, as users are getting a “Chrome_SyncThread” error returned to them. Additionally, commenters at YCombinator point out that the crashes appear to stop after disabling Chrome Sync.

The last notable outage for the service happened back in April and was resolved quickly. Google’s system status page doesn’t yet show a problem, but we’ll update you as we learn more about the situation.
